"Following
the wind" (Feng-liu) means to "adapt oneself to a
stream of life as if to a blast of wind," "enabling
one to forget all the contradictions assaulting the mind and
to identify oneself with nature." Not only the physical
nature of the land and the earth, but the spiritual nature of
man.
Although the above words are weighty, the intent of the works
is joy. And although joy is not always in art vogue and for
some reason, angst and anger take on deeper meanings, the feeling
of good nature is rich. With a hidden sense of movement, the
artist hopes that the viewer will travel through the paintings
and sculptures experiencing surprise and spontaneity with his
eyes, his heart, and especially his imagination. And for all
viewers, a wish for the impression of "yoin", an echoing
like the continuation of the sound of a gong long after its
initial strike.
