This
series is titled "sui" which means water. These works
began in the rain forests of North Georgia (second only to the
Pacific Northwest for precipitation) at the Hambidge Center, a
residency for artists, writers, and composers. My previous works
focus on the gesture, man's individual mark and texture, for I
am concerned with man's need to touch in contrast to society's
direction toward simulated textural, digital and computer experiences.
I seek balance like water pursuing an even level. Water becomes
the mark maker in the sui series for these paintings are directly
affected by the gravity, pull, and force of water on pigment and
canvas. Earth's hand signing its name.
